The Everlasting Mercies Of God

O Lord ripe for destruction was I
From the day I was born into this world
I was carved in iniquity
Every inch of my body was lustful
I blasphemed your holy name
My spiritual corpse stank in your presence
You withheld your righteous anger only because of mercy
Abundance of grace flowed like an everlasting river from your being
Nothing could quench it because you are the origin
This is because your righteous wrath was satisfied
When you sent your only begotten son
Who emptied himself and became flesh
And was sacrificed for my filthy sin
O Lord I was like unto a filthy cur in your presence
But because of your goodness and Mercy
You took it upon yourself to save me
And make me holy in thy perfect presence
You became sin for me O Lord God
And all my imperfections were nailed on the cross
You did not withold your wrath on your son O Lord
So that I may not perish but partake of eternal life
O Lord a thousand praises will not suffice
Everything I do is inadequate to please you
For I have no righteousness in me that I should boast of
There is no goodness in me that I chose you
Only mercy and grace alone saved me Lord
And you sent your Holy Spirit to draw me to you
Then you rewarded this undeserving wretch with eternal life
You quickened my spiritual death
And now my eyes of faith are open
Now O Lord is my heart not hostile to thee anymore
My lips cease their blasphemy and shout praises instead
Because the sacrifice of the Lamb is perfect
And no sin can negate its power
For the blood of Christ is holier and no sin can defile it
O Lord I can only worship you in awe
For you are Holy, Holy, Holy Lord
And you are the reigning king. Amen
