The Song of the Oppressed

Signs from the heavens show no respite
The love of God is upon us
Is it a sin to be one of us?
Look beyond the walls and see
The fair ones who live in luxury
The World has blessed them in abundance
To reveal to them his knowledge
Sacred gods are at their command
Fire and wind obey their demand
But who is on our side, who is on our side
We cried tears of blood for a thousand years
Our mothers tore their heads when we were born
They only beat us to prepare us
For the greater misery to come
Come and behold the countenance of our women
They are ravished when exposed to the street
They are prevented from covering their shame
Their heads are also shaved
They lack nourishment and so do our infants
Our men hath not the might to carry the sword
Only to scavenge the dung of man and beast

When we die, the vultures consume or flesh
The high and mighty have no regard
Even their oxen and the monkeys are revered
Rats have their milk and honey
We have only our death to celebrate
This is the greatest gift The World has bestowed upon us
We have no regard for the luxury its children enjoy
We have no need for its scriptures
But we still offer sacrifices at the gate of the temples
Our only petition is for a shorter life

When we asked a mystic sage for deliverance
He said that some are born lions others lambs
God has made you to be dust to remind you of your former sins
One day you will become lions who consume the lambs and trample upon the dust
We will resist, we will sink to the bottom Karma and blasphemous shall we forever be
